This weekend is the annual Muskrat Jamboree, a weekend of activities, food & races! People come from all around inuvik for this weekend. The town like doubles in size. Here’s a few pictures I snapped Saturday afternoon! Karina & Dr. Boronowski walking between events down the ice road the dogs coming back from their race so many puppies! so excited to run! no skidoos allowed in the activities/food area the planks for the plank-walk race so teams of 4 (2 boys, 2 girls) tie their feet to these boards and they have to race down the ice, around a couple pylons and back, 4 people strapped to 2 boards, recipe for hilarity. and they’re off! uh oh this happened a few times they’re getting the hang of it! … … nope. crack in the road Panda!! Pretty Neko Caroline waiting for the women’s egg race to begin There they go! The aftermath Boys waiting for their eggs Peter won 3rd … for the women…? foot race time! they made it interesting by having to slide under an outstretched extension cord Deb sliding with style Karina’s swan dive Boys race begins Danny’s winning slide Those spastic arms are Peter food! Burgers, hot dogs, candy, drinks! Lots of people out on the ice! each of the little shacks was heated with a woodstove, so warm & cozy inside Karina’s first Eskimo donut! She loved it! Log sawing competition No one can resist maple syrup! The boys’ turn to saw some logs Pataki’s turn… and he broke the saw =P Danny! Panda! Brian!
It was a really fun day out on the ice! And BEAUTIFUL weather all day, even if it was -20 with the windchill. The fun continues with skidoo races hopefully I’ll be able to catch some pictures of that too!!
